Winter update from Handyman Caudill in Birmingham AL

Wow,

What a winter we are having this year. For the last couple of weeks outside work has been mostly at a standstill. Good weather will be returning soon but I'll bet you have some nagging inside projects you would like to get done: getting a room painted, fixing holes in sheetrock wall, replacing the guts in that leaking toilet, putting some shelves in a closet, get some sticking doors working right... We are here to help with all the little things that you might need.
Give me a call if you have any questions: 205-447-7321

I am going to make the lightbulb and filter changing special pricing a regular thing if you pre-buy it on this blog. Just go to the special offers page on the right.

Stay Warm,

Hello from Handyman Caudill in Birmingham AL,

My colleague who does cabinet refinishing is now online as well. His name is Patrick Bryan and he is a decorator and artist as well. You can see more of his cabinet photos and some of his art here.

I am sorry, the promotion button on the previous post was not working but I got it fixed now.

Update #6 Handyman Caudill in Birmingham AL

Hello,

Here are some of the things I have been working on lately.
I replaced the counter tops and a colleague of mine refinished the cabinets. I installed a new sink and cook top. These counter tops were a little more challenging than the average counter tops because of the angle on  the corners but they turned out very nice. The back splash was not molded on but I added it after I installed the counter. She wanted a very clean look and that is what we gave her.

Update# 5 Handyman Caudill in Birmingham Alabama

Hello to all in Birmingham Alabama,
Here is a recent handyman project that I really enjoyed working on. I put some shelves in this space beside the fireplace.

The shelves are made of plywood and I put a 1x2 on the front to finish the edge and to give the front edge extra rigidity. The shelves sit on strips on both sides and on the back. They are about 45 inches wide. Plywood would normally sag on the front with that kind of span but with the 1x2's they are very sturdy.

After she had the shelves The home owner decided she wanted some doors on the bottom. Since these would have to be custom ordered we decided it would be better if I just built them myself. So we discussed what she wanted: frosted glass windows, hidden hinges, and magnetic holds. She did not want any knobs on it so we put in a magnetic push/click type holder - you just push on the door and it clicks like a pen and pushes the door out enough to get hold of and open. when you close it you just push till it clicks and it stays closed.

Same doors, different angle. She wanted to do the painting so I do not have a picture with the doors painted.

Update #4: Handyman Caudill, Birmingham Alabama

Hello to every one,

The job of a handyman is never done. We have been doing all kinds of jobs for our customers in and around Birmingham Alabama. Here is a countertop that I installed. I am sorry I don't have any before pictures but this counter was all mismatched and needed replacing badly. In the mid section of the bar there used to be a built in stove top. After that was removed they just filled the section with a laminate that looked like butcher block and  did not match the counter on both sides of it. I also installed a new sink and faucet which helped the look very much. This is a laminate counter top. The color is called Blackstar Granite and is made by Wilsonart. It actually looks very much like granite. I am very impressed with this color.

Update from Handyman Caudill in Birmingham Alabama

Hello all,
We have been busy here in Birmingham Alabama doing all kinds of handyman jobs. We have done a couple of decks recently and just wanted to show some of them to you.

Here is one of the projects we have worked on recently. This porch was concrete with metal rails. The fronts of the steps had been broken off and they had settled badly. There was an older lady living here and the unevenness of the stairs made it hard for her to navigate. We built her a new deck over the old one saving her some money in the process. Notice how all the steps are evenly spaced now and there is less of a step at the door. New wood handrails and posts make this deck shine. We sanded all the handrails and rounded the corners to make it more comfortable to hold onto.
